East Bali is a large area offering beautiful lush rainforests and black sand beaches. The south coast is home to popular resort town, like Candidasa, and it's the place where to get ferries to Lombok, the Gili Islands and Nusa Lembongan. The mighty Mount Agung, Bali's highest volcano, looms over the coast and hosts one of the holiest temples of the island, Pura Besakih. In the far east, Amed is an increasingly popular destination, while inland the beautiful Kintamani highland will offer dramatic views of the active volcano Mount Batur and the magic Lake Batur.
